Marcia will be discussing her new book The Mercy Step, a stunning coming-of-age tale, unusually, starting at year zero.
Loosely inspired by Marcia Hutchinson’s childhood in Bradford as the middle child of a Windrush era northern Black family, this novel pulls no punches. Both tragic and comic by turns, Mercy’s unique voice will hold the reader spellbound from her inauspicious birth to the brink of teenagerhood.
