Spirited Skeptics: Paranormal Conversations with Dr Cal Cooper and Professor Chris French

Hosted by Dr Kate Cherrell

Join Professor Chris French and Dr Callum Cooper as they explain the weird worlds of paranormal experiences and creepy coincidences through a decidedly sceptical lens.

For millennia, humans have reported strange and spooky occurrences, many of which have been attributed to ghosts, ghouls and paranormal phenomena. In a time of increased supernatural beliefs, can we justify these experiences with science, or do we simply accept that the world is weirder than we believed? And what implications do these new beliefs have?

Hosted by writer and paranormal historian Dr Kate Cherrell, ‘Spirited Skeptics’ introduces the uneasy and entertaining relationship between science and superstition with two of the UK’s leading academic voices.

Dr Callum E. Cooper is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of Northampton and has produced over 100 papers, articles, chapters, and authored or edited 4 books including Telephone Calls from the Dead.

Prof. Chris French is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London where, for more than two decades, he headed the Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit. He frequently appears on radio and television casting a sceptical eye over paranormal claims, including several appearances on hit podcast, Uncanny. His most recent book is The Science of Weird Shit: Why Our Minds Conjure the Paranormal.
