Teresa Chris has specialized in crime fiction since the early nineties when she established her eponymous literary agency in London. Famed for discovering new talent and working editorially with her authors many have appeared on the bestseller lists and won awards such as the Gold and Silver Daggers, The Ellis Peters Award for Historical Crime Fiction as well as numerous mystery awards in the US including the Edgars. Her current crime authors include amongst others Stephen Booth, Rory Clements and Louise Penny.
Kate Lyall Grant has worked in mainstream trade publishing for over twenty years, for the past fifteen as a senior commissioning editor for Hodder & Stoughton and, most recently, Simon & Schuster, specialising in crime, thrillers and commercial women’s fiction. Bestselling crime and thriller authors she has acquired and edited include Chris Carter (THE CRUCIFIX KILLER/THE EXECUTIONER), Martyn Waites, Craig Robertson and Patrick Redmond. She now has her own crime imprint, Creme de la Crime, at Severn House Publishers and also works with unpublished authors to lick their scripts into shape before approaching literary agents and editors.
Lisanna Radice was previously a partner in Gregory and Radice, literary agents. She now works as a freelence editorial consultant specialising in crime fiction. Lisanne is the author of several books including The Way to Write Crime Fiction
Laura Wilson lives in Islington, London, where she is currently working on her tenth crime novel. Her work has been widely acclaimed, and her fifth novel, The Lover, won the 2004 Prix du Polar Europeen in France. Her eighth novel, the first book in the D.I. Stratton series, won the 2008 Ellis Peters Award for Best Historical Crime Novel. She is the crime fiction reviewer for the Guardian newspaper and writes a 'Crime Fiction Masterclass' column for Mslexia magazine.
A former newspaper journalist, Stephen Booth is the creator of young Derbyshire police detectives DC Ben Cooper and DS Diane Fry, who have appeared in 11 crime thrillers, all set in the Peak District. The Cooper & Fry series has won awards on both sides of the Atlantic, and in 2003 the Crime Writers’ Association presented Stephen with the Dagger in the Library Award for “the author whose books have given readers most pleasure.” The novels are sold all around the world, and have been translated into 15 languages. In 2010, bestselling crime writer Val McDermid was awarded the prestigious CWA Cartier Diamond Dagger. Val was born in Kirkcaldy, a small town in the heart of the Scottish mining community. She graduated in English at St Hilda’s College, Oxford before going on to be an award winning journalist for sixteen years. Her first novel was published in 1987.
Val’s loves in life include walking on the beach, football (particularly Raith Rovers), cars and music. She writes full time and is also a regular broadcaster with BBC radio and writes occasional journalism. She divides her time between Cheshire and Northumberland.
